Selection of Die Casting Machine

Nov 21, 2025

The selection of a die casting machine should mainly consider the following four aspects:

1. Meeting the requirements of casting production
Based on the size of the casting, select the die casting machine with the smallest specifications that can meet the casting production requirements.

(1) Projected Area: This refers to the projected area of the casting, including the gating system and slag collection bag, on the mold parting surface. The back pressure generated by the molten metal on this area during die casting must be less than the machine's mold-closing force.

(2) Casting Mass: The total mass of the casting, including the gating system and slag collection bag, should not exceed the rated capacity of the pressure chamber.

(3) Casting Height: Mold thickness and die-casting machine mold opening distance.

(4) Other: It is also necessary to consider whether the ejection force required for the casting exceeds the machine's mold opening force;

whether the mold's external dimensions exceed the spacing of the machine's tie rods and the dimensions of the mounting surface.

2. Enterprise Production Development Needs
While meeting casting production requirements, the selection of a die-casting machine should also consider the enterprise's production development needs. This is especially true for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), where a single die-casting machine often produces more than one type of die-casting part. Therefore, it's necessary to consider whether the machine is a specialized machine or is used to produce other castings.

3. Die-casting Machine Price and Quality
Poor-performing die-casting machines, such as those with poor electrical quality or sealing performance, frequently cause downtime losses and are unlikely to produce high-quality die-casting parts. Generally, die-casting parts without special performance requirements do not necessarily require a die-casting machine with excessive functions or exceptionally high quality. Since there is a significant difference in quality and price between domestic and international die-casting machines, only by comparing the quality and price of die-casting machines based on the enterprise's economic strength, while meeting product performance requirements, can the enterprise achieve better economic benefits by selecting a die-casting machine that suits its needs.

4. After-sales Service of Die-casting Machine Manufacturers
High-quality die-casting machines can be put into production immediately after installation and commissioning, and will not require many after-sales repairs for several years. Some inexpensive equipment, however, experiences frequent malfunctions during production. During the warranty period, some manufacturers offer good after-sales service, quickly dispatching personnel to troubleshoot problems and minimizing production disruptions. However, other manufacturers, after selling the die-casting machine, delay sending personnel to resolve malfunctions or experience frequent breakdowns, impacting production. Therefore, when purchasing equipment, it is crucial to thoroughly understand the after-sales service situation of the die-casting machine manufacturer.
